Steel Jack Level Pack is just an additional game to the original Steel Jack game. There isn’t much of a story as our knight has already saved the king and queen as well as taken back the treasure. Then again you wouldn’t need a story when you can have a game as good as the first Steel Jack. Help our knight travel through the different levels as he takes back those red diamonds and keep his skin on.

Aesthetics:

Steel Jack Level Pack uses the same art style as the first game. The visual presentation is that of a cartoon style with hand drawn animations. The animations are smooth and fluent during the movements and transitions. Plus if you also notice the background, they move along situating the environments and they look good. We aren’t treated to a nice cinematic scene this time but that’s alright. The music is the same from the first game which has that nice whimsical tune to it much like you would hear from cartoons.

Gameplay:

Steel Jack Level Pack is the same as the first game. Then again one can consider Level Pack as simply being an expansion. There are only 20 levels in the game unlike the 50 levels of the first game and the gameplay mechanic are primarily the same. It is a 2D dashing game where the character which is our knight is constantly on the move. He is either riding his toy horse or just running on his feet. The knight is constantly on the move so you the player has to help him avoid obstacles. Pressing the space bar will allow the knight to jump, slash his sword, slide and do a variety of things. There are points in the level where the player has to press the space bar to do the necessary thing given. If they just press space then the knight will simply jump. Just as we stated, depending on the obstacle will vary the knight’s action when pressing space. If there is a wall, a chest or a barrel the knight will simply slash it away. Watch out for those exploding barrels though as they will deal damage to your life. That’s right you have a life bar that will allow you to survive a few hits. There are obstacles that can deal damage to your life bar. When your life bar hits zero then the level fails but you can always restart again. There are also obstacles that instantly kill you. These instant kill hazards would include pits, spikes and lava. There are parts where the knight has to do a series of wall jumps to progress the level. If they don’t continue the wall jump they can change the direction where the knight is running but of course there is path that he has to follow and do. There are also red diamonds that the players can collect. They are entirely optional to get but getting all three can be a good challenge.
